Why Palegoldenrod? I guess its sort of a nerd thing. There is an HTML/CSS colour called palegoldenrod, and while I was employed as a cadet one of the other members of the young and nerdy dev team for some reason declared it to be the best colour evar and from then on we tried to include it in some form in every application we built. We thought it was mildly amusing.
When I left that place I took that little joke with me and mentioned it occasionally in jest with the web designers (just to see their look of chagrin when I suggested that the site designs revolve around palegoldenrod). One day when I was rambling on about domain names, one of the web designers piped up and suggested that as I bang on about palegoldenrod so often, I should buy the domain and call my blog palegoldenrod.
And so it is.
